Great day today - we got alot accomplished.
I checked all the flies before I left school, I put netting in the vials that did not have any. I realize that you took all of the flies out of some of them, but I put it in just in case some more flies hatched.

what is the difference between the law of independent assortment and the law of segregation?
ReplyDeleteLaw of Segregation (1st Law) - Homologous Chromosomes separate during gametogenesis. (each of our gametes recieve one allele)
ReplyDeleteLaw of Independent Assortment (2nd Law) - Nonhomologous Chromosomes separate during gametogenesis.
This is shown in the dihybrid crosses we have been doing.
If you have any more questions let me know.
Mrs. Stebly
Does the Law of Segregation only occur in monohybrid crosses then, since you said the Law of Independent Assortment occur during dihybrid crosses?
ReplyDeleteThe crosses are just representing the probablity of outcomes.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess you could say that a monohybrid represents what the possible outcomes of segregation and a dihybrid represents the possible outcomes of independent assortment.
Alright. Thanks for your help, Mrs. Stebly.
